Crick Boat Show Celebrates it's 20th Year!

Now in it's 20th year, the annual Waterways World Crick Boat Show will be hosting Britains largest narrowboat show over the May Spring Bank Holiday. With over 280 exhibitors attending this year, bringing together a complete range of information and equipment for narrowboaters and would be narrowboaters. You will be able to climb on board the new boats on show and browse the boats for sale on display with many of the UK's narrowboat brokers.

Favourite Boats in Show

Show-goers will be able to vote for their favourite narrowboat and favourite widebeam that is being exhibited at the show. Last year the competition was won by Braidbar Boats for it's 66ft long widebeam called Whats The Hurry.

Kids at Crick Show

There's free entry for Children on all three days of the show, so bring along the whole family along and pay only for the adults. Childrens activities at the show include face painting, 30 minute boat trips from LNBP community Boating. In the Children's Area of the Show Village there will be inflatables and bungee trampolines. In the Canal and River Trust marquee children will be able to see wildlife exhibits and learn about water management and paint roses and castles artwork on wooden spoons to take away. There will also be fascinating displays about life on the canals during the 19th Century and live demonstrations with brickwork.

Music and Entertainment

Enjoy a wide selection of music performed live in the Wheatsheaf Marquee from noon until night, and this year entry for the evening entertainment is included in the price of your ticket.

On Saturday evening one of the UK’s most popular live touring bands, Los Pacaminos, will be playing the very best in Tex Mex Border music from The Texas Tornadoes and Ry Cooder to Los Lobos and even Roy Orbison.

On Sunday evening Dolly and the Moonshine Runners, a tribute act to Dolly Parton will be celebrating the music of one of the most iconic country stars of all time - The Queen of Country that is Dolly Parton. Backed by her exceptionally talented live band The Moonshine Runners, this show is certainly not one to be missed!

This year to celebrate the boat show's 20th year, the Wheatsheaf Bar will also have a new dedicated gin bar, with 20 Gins to celebrate 20 Shows! Where you can sample up to 20 different gins. You will find all the classics and some rarer varieties. Plus, if you fancy some fizz, the gin bar will also be serving prosecco. In addition to the extensive range of beer and cider.

Getting Afloat

The boat trips are usually very popular, so head straight along to the quayside to guarantee a timeslot when you arrive.

If your dream is to own a narrowboat, you can learn the ropes in hour long taster session on boat handling. These sessions are an ideal way for newcomers or novices who are nervous about boat handling to build confidence and gain a feel for what's involved in handling a canal boat. They are also useful for anyone who wants to refresh their skills after a break from boating. You can pre-book a boat handling taster session in advance now.

Food and Craft

In the Food and Craft marquee there will be a good selection of stalls selling a variety of handmade gifts, artwork, artisan bakery produce and mouth watering food to purchase. In the central food court there will also be plenty of options for lunches and snacks to keep the hunger at bay.

Historic Boats

Every year a number of Historic boats make the journey to be part of Crick Boat Show. Often the volunteers on board the historic boats will dress in period costume, and invite you aboard to show what life was like for the working boatmen years ago.

A chance to buy a Narrowboat

With many of the biggest and best brokerage companies exhibiting at the Crick Boat show, buyers will be spoilt for choice when it comes to looking to buy a narrowboat. Many companies offer show deals, so look out for these specials and grab yourself a bargain over the Bank Holiday weekend.
