Whilton and Venetian Marina's Caption Competition Winner

Congratulations Amy Rooney for winning this month's caption competition (via our Venetian Marina facebook page). Just two Ex demo Ruby Narrowboats Left now! and Narrowboat Mohawk for sale

If you've had your eye on one of the Ruby ex demonstration narrowboats that we have for sale at Whilton Marina, you had better hurry as there are only two left, the others having all sold and once they are gone, they are gone!

These boats provide excellent value for your money and have a very contemporary feel. They are lined out in Bamboo which is very hard wearing. The galley kitchen worktops are a gleaming black granite, and the appliances are all brand new. The specifications include a Barrus Shanks engine, calorifier for hot water, Webasto central heating and Phoenix Multiplus Victron 1600 watt inverter.

Ruby 39G is priced at £43,500 was built in 2011 and is a cruiser style boat with four berths, a galley style kitchen, loung with L shaped dinette that makes into a double berth, walk through bathroom and bedroom containing the permanent double bed.

Ruby G is 44ft long, built in 2011 a cruiser style with two berths, a galley kitchen, an open plan saloon with plenty of room to add your own choice of seating or a sofa bed wich would make the boat into a four berth. There is also a walk through bathroom and bedroom with double bed and cupboards.

Narrowboat Mohawk has just arrived at Whilton, for sale for £21,950. She is a 40ft cruiser style boat built by Delph Marina in 1992 fitted with an Isuzu three cylinder diesel engine. The specifications includethree berths, permanent double and a makeup single, Alde central heating, Stovax solid fuel stove, 300 watt inverter, hip bath with shower over. Whilton Marina's Youtube Videos are added to Towpath Talk's Website

Towpathtalk has started to add Whilton Marina's Youtube videos to their website!! Each month Towpathtalk will be bringing a video from our youtube channel about Narrowboating. There are currently 44 films covering everything from Blacking a Narrowboat to Different Types of Handrails. Towpathtalk start the ball rolling by going back to basics with Mooring up to a Pier. Whilton Marina's youtube videos have been a real hit! We've had over 22,000 people view the 44 videos, since the channel began in March 2012 (as of 28th Jan 2012). We are looking at doing some more videos about Narrowboating and from our new marina Venetian Marina. Suggestions are always welcome!!! Take a look at our youtube channel or Towpathtalks website!!

Whilton Marina Updates:

Last week we had a visit from Towpathtalk and we will be having a caption competition relating to their visit! So watch this space....

The decorating in Whilton Marina's office has now just about finished in the office so we are able to find things more easily now! We've also brought some lovely plants, which make the office look much fresher!!

We've been doing some refurbishment work on the Whilton Marina Chandlery, which (fingers crossed) should all be ready for the opening date!

We've updated our display at the Marina and also the brochures on the website! You may also see a few other small changes on the website.

We will be attending this years Crick Boat Show which runs from the 2nd to the 5th June 2012 and opens in 128 days!!! For information about the show or to purchase a ticket click here.

Narrowboat Sales Office decoration

We decided we needed to spruce up the office, especially as we have our new style narrowboat brochures on dispay with our new branding, which look very smart, and we are wearing our new uniforms from today, which also look very smart! So we have Keith painting each office, one at a time. I will try and get as many of the team together soon for a photograph in their new uniforms and post on the blog soon.

The phones are hot today with six offers on narrowboats pending! I think the bright sunshine today makes people think that Spring is only around the corner. Although there was a thick layer of ice on the marina this morning, it's melting in the sunshine now.

Whilton Marina Chandlery Opening Date

The Whilton Marina Chandlery opening date has been pushed back to the 4th February 2012. Bim and Tom at the Chandlery hope that you will join them for a cup of tea or coffee and a chat on the 4th of Feb!

Don't forget they are open for Coal, Gas, Diesel and Pump outs during the refurbishment of the Chandlery.

Narrowboat news

We have been back to work for a week now and have been busy, selling five narrow boats so far this year, a good start to 2012.

You may have noticed that we have recently made a few changes to our web site. There is now a ' Special Promotions' button on the left hand side, which opens another window, when we are running a promotion on any of our sales narrowboats the boats included in the promotion will be listed on this page. There is also a new button on the right hand side of our web site called 'Surveyed Boats', this will open a page listing all the narrowboats we have for sale with recent hull surveys. We hope these additions to our web site will make it even more user friendly for our customers, let us know what you think!

You may have also noticed that the look of our brochures has been updated with our new branding and we think they look very smart!

We will also be getting a new look uniform soon, more on this at a later date, (and we might even show a photograph of some of our team modelling the new uniform!)

We have the Crick Boat Show to look forward to, which will be held in June this year to correspond with the Queens Diamond Jubilee, the show dates are 2nd - 5th June 2012, which is a day longer than usual, tickets for the boat show are on sale now.

As mentioned in a previous blog, our chandlery is being refurbished at the moment ready for opening on Monday 23rd January, with Bim and Tom at the helm, and don't forget they are open for a hot drink and chat on 22nd January, everyone welcome!

Don't forget that although our chandlery is closed for refurbishment, it is still open for the sale of gas and coal and diesel will be available from Friday 6th January. Whilton Marina Chandlery will re-opening fully with new management from Monday 23rd January.

Christmas Narrowboat Sale Extended Until 6th January 2012

Whilton Marina wishes all our customers past and present a very happy, healthy 2012! We hope that you all had an enjoyable Christmas.

We are pleased to announce that our Christmas Narrowboat Sale has been extended until the end of this week and will now finish on January 6th. You will not find a better bargain on the waterways! We are open every day from 9am-5pm and all the sales boats can be viewed either at Whilton Marina or Wigrams Turn Marina.

Our Chandlery is closed for refurbishment and will re-open on the 23rd January under a new management team, more details to follow. The Lock Gate Cafe is also closed, reopening in the Spring with a new team, more details soon.
