Winter lock closures

Here at Whilton Marina we have been "locked in" by the locks at Stoke Bruerne being closed for repair, they have now opened. "Our" locks, the Long Buckby/Whilton flight are still closed until the 12th of March. We have a number of boats waiting to get through for brokerage. The blockage at the west end of the Braunston tunnel (the result of a land-slip last year) should re-open tomorrow. We have a number of sold boats waiting to set off north, so a mass exodus will ensue after the 12th. We have sold a lot of boats through the winter and our brokerage stocks need replenishing so if you have a boat to sell either for cash or brokerage call Robert or Charles on 01327 842577. The History of Whilton Marina since its construction in 1971 is now written and on our web site, and coming soon to the web site, some very interesting old photographs of the marina, so keep a look out if you're interested.

As I'm wiriting this it's snowing really hard outside. The M1 near us, between Junction 15a and 18 is closed both ways due to an accident involving some lorries, so the A5 and A45 are very congested near us, so if you are thinking of travelling to see us today, do check the traffic news first!!

We have had a good start to February with a good number of vendors getting hull surveys done prior to sales being agreed.

So now that the sun is shinning why not visit the Marina and see if a narrowboat you have always fancied has had a good clean hull survey.
